Married mother Karla Jean Winterfeld, 35, must serve out the remainder of the 12 year sentence she was handed for raping her student, the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday. The disgraced middle school teacher, from Duluth in Minnesota, admitted felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct in October 2018 without striking a plea deal, meaning Judge David Johnson was free to sentence her as he saw fit. She must serve at least two thirds of her sentence in prison before she can be considered for probation.
InForum reported that Winterfeld succeeds in being released after eight years, she must then register as what Minnesota calls a predatory offender.
Winterfeld admitted repeated sexual penetration with her victim, who was a year below the age of consent in their home state, with the sexual abuse occurring throughout May 2018. The boy is said to have been badly traumatized as a result of the abuse. His uncle told Winterfeld’s sentencing hearing: ‘I can see it in his face, his eyes, his actions. ‘He’s starting to bottle up. He won’t talk to me. All the effects are starting to show.’ Winterfeld blamed her behavior on being sexually abused and prostituted when she was younger. She also wrote a groveling apology to her victim and all those affected, saying: ‘I will never forgive myself for what happened. ‘I will live with this guilt for the rest of my life. ‘My children are my world and I want to become the mother they deserve. I made a terrible choice and have hurt many people. ‘To my victim I am sorry I didn’t handle the situation properly. I am the adult and you are the child.’ The former teacher won the 2016 Greg Irons Teacher Award, and was twice nominated for the Goldfine Gold Star Teacher Award.

People often form an ideal image of a romantic partner in their heads and this image has an enormous influence on who we end up partnering with. Late rapper Juice Wrld reportedly ‘began convulsing and went into cardiac arrest’ as police and federal agents were searching luggage aboard his private plane for guns and drugs at a private hangar inside Chicago’s Midway Airport, officials said.

Officers and agents had been waiting inside the Atlantic Aviation hangar for the 21-year-old’s jet to arrive from Los Angeles at 1:30am on Sunday morning, following suspicions the musician was in possession of contraband, the Chicago Tribunereported.

An agent is then said to have administered two doses of Narcan, an emergency treatment used when an opioid overdose is suspected.

Higgins eventually woke up but was incoherent and bleeding from the mouth, police said. He’s understood to have been conscious when he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn but was pronounced dead an hour later.

The search of luggage aboard the jet yielded 41 ‘vacuum-sealed’ bags – or 70 pounds – of marijuana and six bottles of prescription codeine cough syrup, which contains opioids.

Investigators also confirmed that two 9mm pistols, a .40-caliber pistol, a high-capacity ammunition magazine and metal-piercing bullets were also found.

One of the rapper’s friends told TMZ that Higgins suffered from a Percocet ‘problem’ and would regularly consumed the highly-addictive opioid, which can have fatal side-effects when mixed with alcohol or other substances.

For now, it remains unclear whether the drugs played a role in Higgins’ death, with a specific cause of death yet to be determined by officials.

An autopsy is slated to be carried out by the Cook County Medical examiner later Monday.

The rapper had been with around 10 or 12 people at the time of seizure, including girlfriend Ally Lotti, other associates, aircraft staff and two security guards, Henry Dean, 27, of Chicago, and Christopher Long, 36, of California.

Both Long and Dean were arrested by the Chicago Police Department at the airport after they were found to be in possession of the three guns found in the search, in addition to a high-capacity magazine and metal-piercing bullets.

Two 9mm pistols and the high-capacity magazine were taken from Dean, police said. A .40-caliber pistol was suspected to be the property of Long.

Dean was charged with carrying a concealed firearm at an airport and possessing a high-capacity magazine and metal-piercing bullets, police said.

Long, meanwhile, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. They are both due in court later this month.

No drug charges have yet been filed against any of the people on board the flight. The marijuana and codeine were found in suitcases that didn’t have name tags on them.

Higgins’ passing has stunned fans and fellow artists alike when the news of death broke on Sunday morning.

Under his stage named Juice Wrld, Higgins had enjoyed hits with Lucid Dreams in 2018 and All Girls Are the Same.

In his song Legends he rapped: ‘What’s the 27 Club? We ain’t making it past 21. I been going through paranoia.’

The State of Texas formally requested to have Tekashi’s assault charges stemming from an alleged 2018 altercation completely dismissed, and a judge signed off on it Monday.

As for why it got tossed — first, the state says the complaining witness — or the alleged victim in this case — requested it be so. The kid who allegedly got choked out by Tekashi later showed up to one of the rapper’s court hearings in the matter and posed with him.
