Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia and their Seven Bucks Productions is developing a film about mixed martial arts fighter Mark “The Smashing Machine” Kerr. Johnson will star as Kerr in the film.

Johnson unveiled the project in New York following a press conference hosted by Ultimate Fighting Championship at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. The press conference was being held ahead of this weekend’s UFC 244 event.

“I was drawn to this because he has such a compelling story,” Johnson said, adding that he watched the 2002 documentary The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr many times. “Yes, he achieved so much in his life, but like all of us, like all of these fighters, he battled these demons.”

Johnson said that Kerr will be involved in the project.

Kerr was a two-time UFC champion who started in the earlier days in the mixed martial arts game, fighting for the World Vale Tudo Championship and in the late 1990s in the PRIDE Fighting Championships. A 2003 HBO documentary “The Smashing Machine” detailed Kerr’s career which included an addition to painkillers.

The inventive, animated Spider-Man remix “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” is getting a sequel.

Sony Pictures on Friday set a follow-up to the 2018 Oscar-winning hit for an April 2022 release.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” grossed $375.5 million worldwide. Its deconstructionist approach to Spider-Man earned some of the best reviews of any recent superhero film, and won the Academy Award for best animated feature.

Sony and Marvel Studios recently parted ways on “Spider-Man” before making up . Marvel is set to produce the third film in the live-action “Spider-Man” series.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Seme Command, on Thursday said it has arrested a suspected human trafficker and smuggler at the Seme border, Lagos State.

The command’s Controller, Comptroller Joshua Ajisafe, who made this known to NAN said that the suspect specialised in tricking young girls with a promise of providing legitimate well-paid jobs to them in the Republic of Benin.

According to Ajisafe, the suspect used to take advantage of the unsuspecting girls to put them into prostitution and sex slavery.

“On Oct. 16, our officers in Seme intercepted three young girls (names withheld) from Kaduna State.

“Upon interrogation, it was revealed that they were Nigerian ladies, who had fallen victims of human trafficking.

“They had luckily escaped from their captor and were trying to cross the border back to their homes in Nigeria.

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, lamented on Thursday that mothers of cyber fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, are now organising themselves into an association.

Magu, who addressed journalists at the Lagos office of the commission in Ikoyi said such parents always justify their children’s activities with the arguments that they were supporting their families in the place of irresponsible, runaway or dead fathers.

Magu said the EFCC’s interest was not just to arrest the Yahoo boys but also to see to their rehabilitation.

He said beyond arrest and prosecution, the anti-graft agency would see to the rehabilitation of Yahoo boys and channel their intelligence and talents into positive ventures that would benefit the nation.

Magu, who said the commission’s premises were littered with recovered vehicles, said plans were underway to auction them as well as recovered houses.

He said, “We are looking at how we can rehabilitate the Yahoo boys; these are young boys, who have graduated, who are in the university. We want to see how we can sensitise them; how we can make them know that the Yahoo Yahoo business is wrong.

“And we are also appealing to their mothers. The parents of these children, they have actually formed an association of Yahoo Yahoo Mothers’ Association – Yes; they are there – Association of Mothers of Yahoo Yahoo Boys.

Kylie Jenner has got a restraining order against a man who showed up at her home, aggressively knocked at her door and asked to see her.

According to the docs, filed by Kylie’s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley and obtained by TMZ, a guy came her home Tuesday and walked up Kylie’s driveway and started pounding the door. He claimed he was there to see her. A security guard escorted him off the property and he was arrested.

A security guard filed legal docs saying the guy was acting erratic and nervous and get this … even though she’s in a gated community he was able to hike onto the property and get to her front door.

Kylie says she’s scared for Stormi and her own safety and she’s afraid the guy will continue to stalk her and come to her home in the future. She says the guy follows her and other members of her family on social media.

Though Kylie was not home when the guy showed up.

Kim Kardashian says her image is worth millions — more than $10 million — and that’s why she’s suing a makeup app for allegedly jacking one of her pics.

Kim claims in the new lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, iHandy used a 2017 photo of her to promote a makeup and beauty manipulation app. What’s especially galling to Kim — the photo was one she used to promote her own beauty line.

Kim’s lawyer scoffed at iHandy’s defense … that it had no idea it was Kim in the pic they used. The lawsuit says, “Defendant claim, absurdly, as its alleged defense … that they didn’t know that the unlicensed, unauthorized photo they knowingly stole and misappropriated was that of [Kim Kardashian West] … one of the most famous and recognizable women in the world.”

– The show opened with the return of Paige, who introduced the Women’s Tag Team Champions, the Kabuki Warriors. The Warriors wouldn’t let her talk, and then Asuka sprayed green mist in her eyes. Becky Lynch made the save by fighting off both Kabuki Warriors, leading directly to the first match.

• Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defeated Kairi sane by submission.

– R-Truth bought a pair of glasses so he could be more focused on getting back the 24/7 Championship. He was interrupted by Buddy Murphy, who said that Truth may not know who he is, but after tonight, he won’t forget him.

2. Buddy Murphy defeated R-Truth. The 24/7 division jogged around the ring during the match, distracting Truth. Truth went out to jog around the ring with them, and when he got back into the ring to beat the count, Murphy hit him with a Kamigoye knee strike to win the match.

5. Andrade defeated Sin Cara. Sin Cara introduced a female masked manager, “Carolina,” to counter Zelina Vega. While Carolina was attacking Vega to prevent her from causing a distraction, Sin Cara got distracted, and Andrade rolled him up with his feet on the ropes to win.

6. Charlotte Flair and Natalya defeated The IIconics. Natalya tapped out Billie Kay to the Sharpshooter.

7. Falls Count Anywhere Match: Universal Champion Seth Rollins defeated Erick Rowan. Rollins and Rowan fought around the arena. Rollins was able to win by forcing a forklift driver to lower the forklift’s forks and a wooden palette onto Rowan, and then standing on it.

– Aleister Black delivered the same backstage promo he always does.

8. United States Champion AJ Styles defeated Humberto Carrillo by submission. After the match, Styles pretended to shake Carrillo’s hand but didn’t, so Carrillo punched him. Styles and The O.C. then attacked Carrillo until the Street Profits made the save.

– Jerry Lawler hosted a “Divorce Court” segment for Lana and Rusev. Lana said she left Rusev because he was a “sex addict” who only wanted to put a baby in her and ruin her fashion influencer career. She also said Rusev cheated on her, which she heard from Bobby Lashley. Lashley showed up, and he and Rusev brawled. Rusev removed his wedding ring and made Lashley swallow it. Lana “saved” Lashley by attacking Rusev with a kendo stick, distracting him long enough for Lashley to hit a low blow. Lashley hit a second low blow, and the segment ended with Lashley and Lana kissing over Rusev’s body.

Lionel Messi bent in a trademark breathtaking free kick in the first half of Barcelona’s La Liga game with Real Valladolid and set a personal milestone in the process.

Messi has now scored 50 goals direct from free kicks in his career.

He went on to score another, from open play, in the second half before another assist, this time to Luis Suarez, saw Barca get five.

The 32-year-old’s goals were his 100th and 101st for head coach Ernesto Valverde.

Messi’s now has four goals in his last three games, after an injury-hit start to the season saw him miss four of Barcelona’s first six matches.
