The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), retired Col. Hammed Ali, said operatives of the ongoing Joint Border Security had seized items worth N1.4 billion since the partial closure of borders.

Ali disclosed this during a joint news conference with his counterpart from the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Mohammed Babandede, in Abuja on Monday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the joint border security exercise, codenamed “Exercise Swift Response”, commenced operation on Aug. 20.

It is set up to ensure a better security of the country’s territorial integrity, particularly the land and maritime borders against trans-border security concerns.

WWE Raw Results:

• Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair. Flair hit a spear on Lynch, but Lynch kicked out at two. Flair was upset, allowing Lynch to roll her up for three. This gave Raw the first pick in the night’s draft.

– Seth Rollins announced that he’s going “Fiend hunting.”

– Stephanie McMahon announced the first round of draft picks. Universal Champion Seth Rollins was Raw’s first pick, and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar was Smackdown’s choice. Raw then chose Charlotte Flair and Andrade (with Zelina Vega), and Smackdown chose The New Day.

• Andrade defeated Ali. After interference from Zelina Vega, Andrade won with a hammerlock DDT.

– In round two of the of the draft, Raw drafted the Women’s Tag Team Champions the Kabuki Warriors, and Smackdown took Daniel Bryan. Raw then chose Rusev, while Smackdown picked Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley. Raw closed out the round by choosing Aleister Black.

• Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The Viking Raiders defeated Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler. Erik pinned Dolph Ziggler after The Viking Experience to win the match and the Raw Tag Team Championship.

– In round three, Raw chose Cedric Alexander, Humberto Carrillo, and Erick Rowan. Smackdown chose Shinsuke Nakamura, and Ali.

• Aleister Black defeated Eric Young by submission with a dragon sleeper.

– Round four draft picks: Raw selected Buddy Murphy, Jinder Mahal, and R-Truth. Smackdown took Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, and Carmella.

– The O.C. beat up the Street Profits backstage in the clangy poles area.

• Ricochet defeated Shelton Benjamin. Ricochet countered a top rope arm drag by landing on his feet, then hit the Recoil to win the match.

– Tyson Fury and Braun Strowman had a contract signing for their upcoming match at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. Fury said he would knock Strowman out, causing Braun to break the table. Fury then awkwardly broke a pen to end the segment.

– Round five picks: Raw chose Samoa Joe, Akira Tozawa, and Shelton Benjamin. Smackdown chose The Miz and King Corbin.

• Buddy Murphy defeated Cedric Alexander with Murphy’s Law.

– Raw gets Rey Mysterio, Titus O’Neil, and Liv Morgan. Smackdown gets Shorty Gable, which is still his actual name, and Elias

• Women’s Tag Team Champions the Kabuki Warriors defeated Lacey Evans and Natalya. Asuka pinned Evans with a roll-up.

– The show ended with Seth Rollins invading the Firefly Funhouse and literally “burning it down.” Rollins and The Fiend are having a falls count anywhere match at Crown Jewel.

“Big Little Lies” star Zoe Kravitz has been tapped to play Catwoman, the antiheroine and sometime love interest of the Caped Crusader, in Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman.”

Kravitz will star opposite Robert Pattinson as Batman.

In recent weeks, the role came down to Kravitz, Zazie Beetz of “Atlanta,” “Deadpool 2” and “Joker,” “Baby Driver’s” Eiza Gonzalez and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander. Ultimately, Kravitz won out, despite some worry about scheduling issues with “Fantastic Beasts.”

Pre-production on the Warner Bros.-DC Comics pic is expected to start this summer. No official start date has been set, although insiders tell Variety that filming could start in late 2019 or early 2020. “The Batman” is scheduled to hit theaters June 25, 2021.

Although Elton John was friends with Michael Jackson for a time, things began to change as the late singer got older.

“I’d known Michael since he was 13 or 14,” John wrote in an excerpt from his forthcoming memoir Me, which was published by The Independent. “He was just the most adorable kid you could imagine. But at some point in the intervening years, he started sequestering himself away from the world, and away from reality the way Elvis Presley did.”

“God knows what was going on in his head, and God knows what prescription drugs he was being pumped full of, but every time I saw him in his later years I came away thinking the poor guy had totally lost his marbles. I don’t mean that in the light-hearted way. He was genuinely mentally ill, a disturbing person to be around,” he added. “It was incredibly sad.”

John went on to describe a dinner party he once threw, which Jackson had been invited to.

John recalled that Jackson, who wouldn’t eat anything, dismissed himself from the table, and they found him later on with their housekeeper and her 11-year-old son.

“For whatever reason, he couldn’t seem to cope with adult company at all,” John wrote.

Amnesty International has identified 119 Nigerians among a total of 1,281 persons sentenced to death in Malaysia.

AI said the 1,281 death row inmates were being kept in 26 detention facilities across Malaysia.

In Malaysia, 33 offences are punished with the death sentence.

The AI report said the 119 Nigerians were convicted of drug-related offences.

It said, “As of February 22, 2019, 1,281 people were under sentence of death in Malaysia, held in 26 detention facilities across the country.

“A startling 44 per cent (568) of all those under sentence of death were foreign nationals, from 43 countries.

“Nationals from Nigeria made up 21 per cent of this group, with those from Indonesia (16%), Iran (15%), India (10%), Philippines (8%) and Thailand (6%) following suit.

“A significant 73 per cent of all those under sentence of death have been convicted of drug trafficking under Section 39(b) of the Dangerous of Drugs Act, 1952 — an extremely high figure for an offence that does not even meet the threshold of the ‘most serious crimes’ under international law and standards and for which the death penalty must not be imposed.”

Tyson Fury’s fight with Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel on October 31 will be a one-off – but Cain Velasquez will be a regular for WWE in the years to come.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion will lock horns with his former octagon rival Brock Lesnar at the showpiece event in Saudi Arabia.

Velasquez beat Lesnar via a first-round TKO to take his heavyweight crown at UFC 121 back in 2010.

And now the two meet in the Middle East with the WWE Championship on the line.

ESPN claim that Velasquez is now finished with Mixed Martial Arts – and has signed a long-term contract with the WWE tying himself down to Vince McMahon’s promotion.

The 37-year-old leaves the UFC with a 14-3 record – and has informed Dana White of his MMA retirement.

Fury, on the other hand, will fight Strowman in Riyadh despite having been urged not to engage in physical exercise until at least mid-November after his bruising win over Otto Wallin on September 15.
